Croquet players in front of mansion

On August 23, Friends of Clermont welcomed over one hundred guests to the third annual Tea at Clermont Gardens. We were thrilled to welcome back harpist Sarah Goss, whose music provided the perfect backdrop for guests as they dined on a delicious buffet prepared by Rob Handel Catering, sipped on our signature beverage, Honoria's Delight (Elderflower Blueberry Lime Mocktail), and enjoyed tea expertly served by a representative of Harney & Sons.

Much to everyone's excitement, croquet was brought back to the festivities this year, along with a scavenger hunt in the surrounding gardens and lawn. Guests also placed bids on items available for auction, such as a three-night stay at a gorgeous log cabin and original artwork.

Walled Garden restoration- summer 2025

This year, guests were able to see the restoration of the formal gardens in real time. The Walled Garden is currently in the midst of a major restoration project, thanks to a grant from the Environmental Protection Fund’s Park and Trail Partnership Grants program.

Clermont's Historic Site Manager, Geoff Benton, gave a sneak peek into his plans for the site during the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, including a new tour of the mansion focusing on Clermont's role in the war. All information regarding these events will be shared on our social media and on our events page. To stay up to date on all things Clermont, be sure to subscribe to our newsletter.

Proceeds from the day’s event support the ongoing restoration of Clermont State Historic Site’s formal gardens.

There is something really special about gathering friends, supporters, and children to sample the many aspects of Clermont’s endless charm and longevity. Thanks for bringing us all together.

Thank you for the lovely tea party yesterday. We enjoyed seeing the walled garden, stepping inside the home for the first time, and hearing more about all that you are doing to preserve and care for Clermont. We appreciate the hard work you put in all year round—it really shows. The tea party itself was a delight and beautifully set up. Our friends loved it as much as we did.
