6 things we’re excited about

We are busy bees at Clermont this May!

1

Harmonies on the Hudson

Thursday, May 29

6 p.m.

Our popular Thursday-night concert series is back!

The Wallpapers are a versatile acoustic duo that has been delighting audiences throughout the Hudson Valley and NYC with their eclectic song selections, new takes on old classics and well-crafted original tunes.

2

Photo Contest

Did you know that May is National Photography Month?

We are excited to announce our first photo contest to celebrate the beauty and history of Clermont State Historic Site. Visitors and photographers alike are invited to capture unique and inspiring moments at Clermont, highlighting its landscape, architecture, and abundant wildlife and nature.

The contest runs from May 1 to July 20.

3

New Exhibit

Our new exhibit, Richard Montgomery and the Failed Invasion of Canada, is on view in the mansion!

In 1775, Richard Montgomery, a former British solder turned American general, led an attack on Canada in an attempt to bring it to the colonists' side.

The exhibit commemorates 250 years since Montgomery’s campaign and considers the preservation of legacy and heroism during and after the Revolutionary War.

4

New Kiosk in Visitor Center

In recognition of the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution in 2026, New York State Parks is installing interactive kiosks at 20 historic sites, including the one seen here at Clermont!

New Yorkers were at the forefront of shaping our nation's history. These kiosks aim to inspire exploration of the American Revolution and highlight the many remarkable sites across our state where it all started.

5

National Preservation Month

Friends of Clermont has partnered with the National Trust for Historic Preservation to celebrate the power of place — how historic sites strengthen communities, foster a healthier planet, and build a more connected society.

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, recent preservation work at Clermont has included restoration of the children's playhouse, the west-facing terrace and retaining wall, and the exterior of the mansion.

We’ll begin restoring the north and south ends of the historic walled garden this summer, thanks to a grant from Parks & Trails New York.

6

New York State Parks' Wellness Challenge

Throughout the year, immerse yourself in a variety of wellness activities at state parks and historic sites across the Empire State.

Whether you're exploring scenic hiking trails, enjoying a guided tour, relaxing with a picnic, or taking in our iconic sunsets, Clermont has something unforgettable to offer this season.
