Tea at Clermont Gardens Recap and Photos

Clermont Gardens

This past Saturday, the Friends of Clermont were thrilled to host the second annual Tea at Clermont Gardens! Again this year, the Friends of Clermont extended gratitude to our gardener, Mary Hughes, and her team of volunteers for all that they do for the gardens at Clermont. Proceeds from the day’s event support the ongoing restoration of Clermont State Historic Site’s formal gardens.

Guests were greeted with melodic songs by harpist Sarah Goss, dined on a buffet catered by Rob Handel Catering, sipped on our signature beverage (Elderflower Blueberry Lime Mocktail), and were served tea by a representative of Harney & Sons. Also featured at the event was Germantown historian, Thomas Shannon, who recounted the story of Lafayette’s visit to Clermont during his Farewell Tour 200 years ago, and local artist Ruby Silvious, who dazzled guests with her internationally-recognized tea bag artwork. Guests also placed bids on items available for auction, such as tickets to the Christmas Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. After the festivities, guests were invited to tour the mansion or stroll through the formal gardens following the Tea with Clermont’s own Horticulturalist, Leslie Reed.

We are grateful for your support!

It was a lovely day enjoyed by all who attended, and the beautiful weather was the perfect ending to a busy summer at Clermont. As the weather begins to shift to fall, we are excited to see what this next season will bring to Clermont! Be sure to stop by and admire the beautiful scenery of the changing foliage along the Hudson River. Check out our events page or subscribe to our email newsletter to stay up to date on the wonderful events we have planned for the autumnal season.
