About the Event
Join us for an exploration into the material histories of the objects and artworks in Clermont’s collections. Just as the current interpretation of the site seeks to shed light on the life and legacies of the enslaved people, servants, and laborers who worked at Clermont, this tour will uncover the connections the collection maintains to systems of trade, industry, and labor through the materiality of the objects themselves. From silver to mother-of-pearl to the pigment used to capture the likeness of the most prominent Livingstons, this material exploration will seek to expand our understanding of the origins of this collection by discussing who and what went into making it.
Please note: The cost of the event is $5 per person, please be prepared to pay at the door. Space is limited. Visitors must register in advance.
