About the Event
Clermont’s annual Independence Day extravaganza is back, and it’s better than ever! The afternoon kicks off at 1:00 p.m. with historic reenactors demonstrating skills such as sewing, weaving, blacksmithing, and Palatine-style cooking. Enjoy tales and songs for children with Thomas Hooker Hanford, stories and performances of enslaved and indigenous peoples by Joy Kelly Smith, and traditional Scottish music played on bagpipes to honor the Livingston’s heritage. Selections will be read from Frederick Douglass’ “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?” Members of the 34th Regiment of Foot will demonstrate British Army camp life, and the afternoon will culminate in our annual reading of the Declaration of Independence. Various food trucks will be on site all day. While you await the Saugerties fireworks, enjoy an evening of music with local favorites, The Wallpapers, from 7:30-9:30 p.m.! Admission is $15 per car.
Please note: RSVP is not necessary and tickets will be sold at the door. This page is for informational purposes only. Thanks!
