Finally, the long awaited book about Staatsburgh State Historic Site!
Gilded Age architecture and the leisure pursuits of New York City’s social elite come to life in Staatsburgh: Gilded Splendor on the Hudson, a new book about Staatsburgh State Historic Site, a Beaux-Arts cultural gem in the Hudson Valley of New York.
In rich detail over 96 pages, authors Pam Malcolm and Andrea Monteleone take the reader inside the lives of Ruth Livingston Mills and Ogden Mills, their family, the servants and estate staff, as well as the many friends and dignitaries who visited over the years. Staatsburgh: Gilded Splendor on the Hudson brings together over 100 lush color photographs, many by renowned architecture and interiors photographer Pieter Estersohn, highlighting the opulence of the 79-room mansion and its original furnishings, art and objects from around the world. Gorgeous aerial shots were taken by Roger Tully. The book features a foreword by J. Winthrop Aldrich, a leader in New York State historic preservation for decades and resident of another acclaimed Gilded Age estate.
