The floorplan for Margaret Beekman Livingston's Georgian-style home provided for two small and two
large chambers on each floor divided by a center hall. The hallway was used by Mrs. Livingston's 20th
century descendants to display portraits of their more illustrious ancestors. Highlighting this collection is
Gilbert Stuart's portrait of Chancellor Robert R. Livingston, painted shortly after the artist's return from
England in 1794.
