This exquisite balloon clock depicts the take-off of the first hydrogenated balloon flight by the Montgolfier brothers in 1793. Chancellor Robert R. Livingston purchased it while he was in France from 1801 to 1807. While it is one of a kind, Clermont's clock does have a companion that depicts the balloon's landing which currently is housed in Paris.
