Olana State Historic Site

Olana is a singular work of art created by Frederic Edwin Church, one of America's foremost Hudson River School artists. The estate combines picturesque landscape, romantic Persian architecture and extraordinary vistas of the Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains.

American Museum of Firefighting

The museum houses antique firefighting apparatus, art works and firefighting memorabilia from throughout the Northeastern United States. The historic City of Hudson, undergoing a renaissance, boasts more than 40 antiques shops and art galleries.

James Vanderpoel House and
Luykas Van Alen House

The Federal-style Vanderpoel house and the early 18th century Dutch house built by Luykas Van Alen are operated by the Columbia County Historical Society. The Society also operates the Columbia County Museum, open year-round on weekdays and on weekends during the summer.

Martin Van Buren National Historic Site

The centerpiece of this site is Lindenwald, the retirement home of the nation's eighth President. The original Federal-style home was enlarged in the Italianate style by President Van Buren.

Montgomery Place

Montgomery Place is a meticulously restored Hudson River estate with landscaped grounds and gardens, nature trails, orchards, woodland walks, and an early 19th century mansion remodeled by noted architect A.J. Davis between 1840 and 1864.

Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome

Vintage aircraft are displayed in the museum on the grounds of the Aerodrome, but the featured attractions are the working World War I- era planes that perform during regularly scheduled air shows on weekends between May and October.

Wilderstein

Wilderstein is an 1888 Queen Anne-style mansion that was home to the Suckley family, descendants of the Livingstons and Beekmans. The grounds were designed in the American romantic landscape style by Calvert Vaux. Interiors and windows were designed by J.B. Tiffany.

Staatsburgh State Historic Site

Originally called Staatsburgh House, the 79-room Beaux Arts mansion seen by visitors today was built 1895-1896 by Ruth Livingston and her husband, the financier and philanthropist Ogden Mills. The mansion s interiors are representative of Gilded Age opulence, while views of the Hudson River and Catskills are breathtaking.

Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site

Railroad baron Frederick W. Vanderbilt acquired this limestone Beaux Arts mansion as his spring and autumn residence in 1895. Complementing the 52-room mansion are various outbuildings, including the recently restored Coachhouse, and elaborate formal gardens.

Franklin D. Roosevelt National Historic Site

This home, called Springwood, was originally built as a simple four-room dwelling in the mid-19th century. Purchased by James Roosevelt in 1867, it was enlarged in 1882, and again in 1915 when it assumed its present Georgian Revival appearance. The house has been preserved to its appearance in the 1940's when it was the home of President and Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Samuel F. B. Morse Historic Site

Samuel Morse and A.J. Davis designed the 1851-1852 Tuscan villa known as Locust Grove, that is sited on the 18th century estate of Col. Henry Livingston. The home contains an extensive collection of fine furniture and decorative arts, while the 150-acre estate commands sweeping Hudson River views.
